Mutts On A Mission

It is not how much love one can give; it is how much love one needs.

The caring hearts of Mutts on a Mission have no boundaries.

Whether they walk on all fours or only two, lives are touched, and hearts are filled.

When days are dark, and hope has slipped, these furry little angels make their way in.

When sadness and doubt take hold of the mind,
the unconditional love from these fuzzy friends breaks through.

The caring and compassionate leaders, founders, and caregivers from Mutts on a Mission dedicate their time, knowledge and gifts to seek those in need of their services.

Students, children, patients, neighbors, friends, and friends they haven’t made yet all receive the blessing of their organization.

On behalf of Congresswoman Debbie Lesko Thank you for all you do.

A Prayer For Our Therapy Dogs At The Cancer Treatment Center
Father in Heaven,
Thank you for Your goodness toward us in thousands of ways everyday. Today we want to celebrate Your goodness through the Therapy Dogs who serve at this facility, those dogs here today as well as those who could not make it.
Thank you for creating such a warm, friendly, loyal and sensitive animal as these dogs who encourage the lives of countless people at CTCA. Thank you for giving them a heart for people, for their gentleness, and for being so amiable toward every one they meet.
Thank you for their handlers who love them, care for them, and bring them here time and time again. Thank you for the many hours they spend preparing these animal to fulfill their purpose and for their commitment to their ministry at the place.
May You bless our Therapy Dogs today with good health and a kind disposition. May you bless their handlers with joy and satisfaction as they care for and train these animals. May Your blessing be upon each of them as they embrace our patients, caregivers, families, and stakeholders who need a pick-me up this and everyday.
It is in Christ name that we thank You and ask for this blessing.
Amen

Last Thursday one of our teams visited the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Goodyear. This is their story. What a beautiful testament to the difference a therapy dog can make to someone's day.

"I was walking into infusion and there was a young mom holding her approximately 2 year old daughter. She was mesmerized by Apache and was So Excited to see him. You could tell her mom was not feeling well and depressed, but as we got closer the atmosphere of the area changed. Her mom started to smile, the little girl was blowing Apache kisses, joy filled the room! The little girl was reaching and petting Apache, mom was struggling a little so I put Apache in a down stay. The little girl got on the floor with Apache and she started hugging and loving all over him, we All lost it! Mom, nurse’s, volunteer’s… Tears, Joy, Laughter, Love!!! What a Blessing for All!", Pastor Michael

We are saddened once again to share that we lost another great therapy dog. Zoey and her owner/handler Natalie have been members of Mutts On A Mission for over 9 years. They were a great team and will be greatly missed.

To Natalie, Mutts On A Mission understands the sadness, heartache and the devastating feeling of loss you must feel. Zoey was a great little friend and therapy dog. Just remember all the smiles she brought.

Penelope, Cooper, Savannah, Bailey, Abbey and Nelli are all waiting to greet her!

Along with Jasz, Dink is also continuing his training by learning "Stay" and "Come". Here he is being put in a stay, followed up by remaining in the stay while his owner tossed a ball right past him. He then followed up with a "Come". This is another display of the growing level of influence the owner has over the dog, despite outside distractions!

Nice job Dink!

Two really important behaviors for dogs to master are "stay" and "come". As Jasz continues his training to become a therapy dog he has been practicing this a lot.

This video shows Jasz in a stay followed by a come that is given by a whistle from his owner. What you can't tell in the video is that Jasz is in the country surrounded by streams and ponds. All huge distractions making stay and come challenging.

This behavior demonstrates just how much influence the owner has over this young pup. Great progress!

As Jasper continues his training journey to becoming a therapy dog, his mom is teaching him "Place".

While this particular behavior or trick is NOT required to become a therapy dog, it does begin to establish and demonstrate a high degree of influence a handler has over the dog. You'll see that everything is off leash and everything is positive here. Keep in mind that Jasper is only six months old! Not bad Jasper!
